Everything about ordering, measuring, delivery and care. If something is missing, write to us and we will answer it and add it here.
You build your Aptus 1.0 in the configurator, choosing fit, entry system, thickness and colour, then pay for it in full. That holds your production slot. Straight after, we send you a link to complete your 29 point body profile. Your suit is cut to those measurements and dispatched when it is finished.
€1,295, paid in full when you reserve. Midnight Navy is €1,344. Additions are charged on top and are listed with their prices in the configurator, so the figure at checkout is the whole figure.
Until your measurements are submitted, yes. Write to us and we will refund you in full and return your allocation to the pool.
Once your measurements are in and pattern work has begun, no. Each suit is cut to one person from their own figures, so it cannot be resold or reallocated to anyone else. Bespoke goods made to a customer’s specification are excluded from the standard fourteen day withdrawal right for that reason.
If something is wrong with the suit when it arrives, that is a different matter entirely and is covered by the warranty.
If you are ordering from the EU or UK, your statutory cancellation rights are set out in our Terms. Custom-made goods are treated differently from stock items under those rules.
1,000 in total, worldwide, released in four quarterly allocations of 250. When unit 1,000 ships, the Aptus 1.0 line ends.
Join the list on the home page and we will write to you the moment the next allocation opens, before it is announced anywhere else.
With a tape measure, at home, guided one step at a time. After you order we send you a private link to a form that walks you through all twenty-nine points, with a diagram for each one.
You will need someone to help you. Several of the measurements cannot be taken accurately on yourself, and a suit cut from numbers taken alone will not fit. It takes about twenty minutes, and the form saves as you go so you can stop and come back.
Our fit team reads every set by hand and checks the figures against each other before anything is cut. There is nothing to measure at the point of ordering.
Twenty-nine measurements taken across the whole body: head and neck, chest, waist and hip, the full arm from armscye to wrist, the full leg from thigh to ankle, and two torso loops taken over the shoulder and through the crotch.
The pattern is cut to those figures rather than to a size, which is what removes dead air space, underarm pulling and lower back bunching.
You will need someone to help you. Several of them cannot be taken accurately on yourself, so we ask for a second pair of hands rather than accept numbers we know will be wrong. It takes about twenty minutes, and the form saves as you go.
Write to us. Because the suit is cut to your own profile a poor fit usually points to a measurement error, and we will work through it with you directly.
Chest zip is the modern standard and gives the best balance of warmth and flexibility. Zipless is harder to get into but gives maximum watertightness and completely unrestricted paddling. Both are compared side by side in the configurator.
Your suit is hand crafted in specialty workshops and delivered within your allocated slot. We confirm the timing for your quarter when your measurements are verified.
European Union and United Kingdom. Nothing. Shipping is included and sent Delivered Duty Paid, so the checkout price is the final price.
Rest of the world. Shipping is invoiced separately once the suit is ready, so you pay the actual courier rate for your address rather than an estimate rolled into the price.
European Union and United Kingdom. No. Orders ship Delivered Duty Paid, so all import taxes, duties and VAT are covered by us and the checkout price is the final price.
Rest of world, including Australia. Shipping is invoiced separately once the suit is ready. Local import duties, customs fees, taxes and VAT are your responsibility and are charged by your border authority on delivery.
Norway, Switzerland and Malta. Not covered by the duty paid programme. Shipping is invoiced separately once the suit is ready, and local charges are your responsibility.
Direct from our workshop. Nothing is sold through retail channels.
Japanese #40 and #39 closed cell nitrogen Yamamoto Limestone Neoprene. It absorbs less than 2% water weight, so the suit stays lighter in the wave and dries faster between sessions, and it holds its shape, warmth and elasticity across multiple seasons.
Our advanced closed-cell thermal technology. It reduces heat loss by creating a lightweight, non-water-absorbing thermal barrier that keeps warm air and water close to the body.
Micro-Chamber Matrix. Proprietary internal chambers trap insulating air against the body, creating a highly efficient thermal barrier.
Zero Water Absorption. Closed-cell construction absorbs no water, keeping the suit lighter, faster-drying and less prone to retaining sand and dirt.
Maximum Thermal Efficiency. Engineered as an alternative to conventional fleece and graphene thermal linings, maintaining a warm insulating layer directly against the skin.
Warmth without the weight. Fitted to every Aptus 1.0 as standard, not as an upgrade.
GBS, glued and blindstitched, with triple-taped seams. That blocks cold water at every stitch line while keeping enough flexibility to avoid paddle restriction and seam tearing under heavy wipeouts.
3/2 mm for temperate water, 4/3 mm as the year round choice in most of Europe, 5/4 mm for genuinely cold winter sessions. If you are between two, tell us where you surf and we will advise.
Rinse in fresh water after every session, dry in shade rather than direct sun, and store on a wide hanger folded at the waist rather than on a thin one. Care guidance comes with your suit.
Twelve months from the date your suit is dispatched, covering manufacturing and material faults.
Separately from the warranty, we run a repair service for accidental damage. That one is not time limited in the same way, and it is described below.
Contact us first, before you do anything else. We will look at the damage and, where a repair is the right answer, arrange it through one of our partners near you.
Born Slippy covers the cost of the repair. You cover shipping to and from the repairer, and any customs or import charges that apply.
Our wetsuits are built to last, but fin cuts and seam splits happen. Repairing rather than replacing is cheaper for you and better for the ocean, which is the whole point of making one suit properly rather than several badly.
Covered. Accidental or product-related damage:
Not covered. General wear and tear, normal ageing, misuse, or cosmetic deterioration. A suit that has simply been surfed hard for years is doing what it was built to do.
Catching a small problem early usually stops it becoming a large one, so tell us sooner rather than later.
Specialists we have worked with and trust, chosen by where your suit is rather than where we are. Contact us first and we will point you at the right one.

For a very minor cut or a short split seam, yes.
Anything larger than that, send it to a partner. A rushed repair on a long seam usually has to be redone properly afterwards, which costs more than doing it right the first time.
Because a repaired suit lasts longer and one fewer suit gets made. We build one product, in a run of a thousand, and it would be strange to argue for fewer, better things and then replace one over a fin cut.
Repair it, look after it, keep using it.
Through Stripe, at checkout. We never see or store your card details.
They are used to cut your suit and to hold your record against your serial number, and nothing else. They are handled under EU GDPR and are never sold or shared for marketing. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Every suit carries a printed serial logged in our registry. It ties the suit to your record for service and history, and confirms which allocation it came from.
